Medals are a type of material. They have various uses, mostly in crafting objects. There are at least three types of medals: Star Medals and sorcerer's medals which are described below, and friendship medals.
You may have noticed some clothing, furniture and the special wands require materials labelled with a Medal icon, such as the Minnie Star Medal or the Shining Glass Medal.
Star medals[]
There are medals themed to many themes in the game. They can be used to craft wands and they are in the "precious items" item category. These are not going to be found casually. The way you would get them is to create a perfect 8 combo in your café of ONE of theme. All the items have to match PLUS you have to have at least one secret combo. You'll know it is a secret combo because next to it on your Theme Combo list there will be a gold circle with an orange exclamation point in it. When you throw a party after meeting these requirements, there is a chance that the character will show up as opposed to another cast member and a chance that they will have an exclamation point above their head. If the exclamation is there, they will give you the medal. It does not always happen, and it MUST be from the correct character (e.g. Donald Duck or Cinderella). You may have to do this several times.
There is one exception to the "decorate according to a character's franchise" rule. You may have noticed that while there is a Goofy theme, there is no Goofy-themed furniture. Instead, Goofy comes to parties with Western themes in a cowboy outfit, along with his friends. If you keep following the above rule of the perfect 8 combo + secret combos for the Western theme, he may have a chance of gifting you the Goofy Star Medal.
Sorcerer's medals[]
There are certain medals that can be earned while participating in episodes which are known as "Sorcerer's Medals". They can be found through gathering, usually in treasure chests or in sparkly patches in the ground. All of the Sorcerer's medals have a special rarity, so they can't be sold to Scrooge McDuck at McDuck's. The main purpose of these medals is to craft wands. At first, quests will only give out simple bronze Sorcerer's Apprentice Medals. However, as more episodes are cleared, the medals will grow in status and will turn from bronze to silver to gold, all leading up to the rainbow-colored Legendary Sorcerer's Medal (and they will also be harder to find, as well). Sorcerer's medals are used to craft wands and they are in the "other" material category. Here is a list of all the Sorcerer's Medals:
