How would Disney Magical World be played if it were a GameCube release?
Interface[]
Since there's no bottom screen, the menu will be on the side of the screen when it's opened (either that, or it'll cover the whole screen). Things will also have to fit to size due to there only being 1 screen (ex. the materials section) (maybe dual screens?) In dancing mini-games, the icons will be overlaid on the screen.
Controls[]
- Joystick: Move, select, move cursor for dancing
- C-Stick: Move camera (now there's actually a MOVABLE CAMERA in this game)
- A: Interact, Gather, Open, Select,
- B: Run (holding)
- X: Use Magic (holding X does a charged attack)
- Y: Special Magic
- L: Use Magic Stone
- R: Magic Twirl
- D-Pad: Greetings
- Start: Open Menu
- Z: View Statistics
Changes[]
- In fishing, you must press A as usual, but to reel it in faster, you can spin the joystick like you're rotating the axle of the fishing rod.
- There's a movable camera. Now you can see in all directions and look for things behind you! You may even find secrets this way.
- In the original game, Magic Treasure Chests had a set output to them (1-5 Magic Stones = only common items, 5-10 = only uncommon items, 11+ = rare items only). Now, the Magic Treasure Chests will drop the maximum reward PLUS the minimum reward in the items in between if you have enough stones (ex. 11+ = common, uncommon, AND rare items)
- Fish will respawn like in the second game.
- There are no Miis (since this is GCN); only the in-game avatars.
- There would be multiple save files, 3 per usual. You can also copy and/or delete the files, as usual.
- Once you've completed a quest, you may exit whenever you want to. When you do, you just get the materials/coins gathered in the episode and leave. If you try to exit if the episode hasn't been completed, though, the player will lose whatever they got in their first time.
- New revival system. If the player dies, they will lose half their items. They can choose to continue for 3 Magic Stones or quit. If they continue, they will be brought back to where they died and regain their lost items. If they quit, they lose the items. (I don't know if a revival system like this ACTUALLY exists in the games, though)
- It would be interesting if the character could jump. That way, there could be platforming segments. (though it takes away the "feel" that DMW games have, I guess?)
- Since the GameCube has no DLC unlike consoles such as the Wii or 3DS, any DLC item would be available to buy in McDuck's/made in their respective areas for regular prices, and Port Royal will be post-game content and may reward you with additional stickers. As for the bonus DLC episodes and wands, there will be secret ways to access them:
- Dreamfruit Wand: Turn around into a secret passage in the quest "No Ball" and fight a myriad of tough ghosts before defeating a massive Pipoppin and retrieving a secret ball invitation from a locked chest. Then, beat the quest as normal. After that, wait until you complete the First Ball. If you got the secret invitation, another ball will be unlocked in addition to the Moonlight Ball: The Christmas Ball. Complete it with the top rating, and you'll be rewarded with the recipe for the Dreamfruit Wand. You may then craft it at the Tower
- Striped Tail Wand: In Alice's World, complete the first episode twice in a row and have at least 1 four-leaf clover in your inventory. Afterwards, the Cheshire Cat will assign you a special quest: "Springtime Forest Egg Hunt!". Collect all the eggs while evading and defeating ghosts. Once the mission is complete, you will be able to access a previously locked area in the hub with more materials and the Striped Tail Wand's recipe inside. Go the Tower to make it.
- Genie Wand: To earn this wand, you must have met Genie and completed 3 episodes in Aladdin's World. If you replay "Desert Journey Preparations", there will be a small glowing crevice along a wall that wasn't there anymore. Blast it open with magic, and you will be transported to a secret passage with a treasure chest that has a Mysterious Key inside. Then, complete the episode as normal, and then talk to Carpet in the hub. You'll give him the key, and then Carpet will take it to Genie and Aladdin to inspect it. After a short cutscene, a new episode will be unlocked (this episode wasn't in the real DMW). The episodes involves maneuvering through tight corridors full of ghosts, and introduces fire. At the end is a boss fight with a Roly-Polyrollon. When you defeat it, a treasure chest will appear with the Genie Wand recipe inside. Afterwards, return to Agrabah, then go the Tower to create the wand.
- EXTRA NOTE: In the real DMW, the DLC wands are obtained instantly, and didn't require any materials, just real-world payment. In this version, you have to obtain their recipe and craft them at the Tower.
